He is really into soccer lately, and already has a hole in his brand new Stride Rite sneakers. Are there specific type of sneakers or specific brands that will hold up better? I guess I'd prefer to pay more if they will last much longer.

hm - stride rite might have a warranty - the question is if they include wear & tear from rough play ... or is rough play regular wear & tear with sneakers

I'm going to look into it, but I doubt it, cuz I don't think I can claim the shoes were defective, I know he's been playing soccer and thats where the hole is!

Thanks.
I don't see any real options at landsend - do you know of a specific sneaker, or you are just suggesting cuz they garantee?
modell seems like a good option, but we are used to velcro!! have to decide if we are ready to switch to laces...

Is it from riding bikes/trikes/ride ons and using the foot as a break. I have 1 kid who does that and the hole end up by the front of the shoe. Even if you get the best qaulity shoe it happenes. Sneakers are worse then shoes. I have recently started getting shoes which have an extra thick rubber peice by the front top which prevents it. Go to good qaulity shoe shop and show them the shoe with a hole and ask for a reccomadation for a shoe which is extra rubber padding in that area.
