My daughter wears a uniform skirt with pleats. After the wash I always iron the pleats back in - detailed but easy. My d has since learned to iron the pleats in as well (I'm very proud of her). When I see other kids w/o their pleats ironed in I feel as if the whole idea behind a uniform becomes moot (cause then they all look like disheveled). I'm somewhat of a slob but if I were a principal I would make all the kids learn how to iron in pleats. Do you care about pleats?

I care. I love sharp pleats. But not enough to take the time to do all my daughters' skirts. The older two know how to iron and they also prefer the pleats, but again, not enough to justify the time. I'm glad their principal doesn't demand ironed uniforms.

We accept all offers from anybody who wants to iron them, though.

I have enough trouble with one likes only drop pleats, this one wants a button top, that one likes elastic, no round collars; only pointy, the darker blue is better, not that thin lightish blue...

Yes, but not enough to spend the time on it. My older dd took care of hers, and the younger one cares enough to eventually get the hang of it.

I like the idea of them learning this in school. It would go under sewing, which is a course schools should offer throughout school imo.

I definitely care about pleats, but I dont think you have to iron them after each wash. If you wash with cold and don't put it in the dryer, the pleats hold nicely for a while. After every few washings, I'll iron them or give into the cleaners to press. I also cant stand when pleated skirts looked gathered.
