you're going have to serve noodles to go with it. |
And when you have noodles to go with it? Then what? |
when you serve a chicken soup, she's going to want some noodles to go with it. the noodles will splash soup on her chin, and she's going to ask you for a napkin. the napkin will remind her of the leaves falling down in the barnyard where she grew up, and she'll ask you to look at her family album with her. looking at her family album will make her want to write a letter to her great-uncle Archibald, who always gave her some extra corn when her parents weren't looking. thinking of the corn will make the chicken want to bake some cornbread with molasses for you. the molasses will get sticky, so the chicken will ask you for a napkin. asking for a napkin will remind the chicken that you have noodles for her. and chances are, if you give the chicken some noodles, she'll want some soup to go with it.
apologies to laura numeroff. now who wants to illustrate this? |
I was thinking that with the noodles, she would want ketchup, although I like your story. My 5-year-old is obsessed with the "If you give" series. He would love your story.

a) the noodles are already in the soup. I draw the line at ketchup in soup.
b) according to some thread or other on this site, ketchup and noodles is a lower-class dish/exclusively jewish (not that the two are equated). including that would limit readership significantly, and we all know children's books are potential gold mines. why sabotage myself?
feel free to read the story to your five yr old. tell him I'd love for him to illustrate it.

Is this done?
No, it looks like it could use a few more minutes. But be sure to check on it soon so it won't burn.

Nope. Only allowed one. Then you have to go to the intermediate reaction thread.

mevater spelling?
Absolutely not. Be mevater on spelling and next thing you know the entire structure of written language has collapsed and writing is completely incomprehensible--or worse, misconstrued. Here, I'll give you a for-instance:
Blessings on your grandmother's hoary head
Blessings on your grandmother's whorey head (waiting to see what the censor does with that)
I'm weary of work
I'm wary of work
It's too much for me to bear
It's too much for me to bare
Can I be your best friend?
Can I be your best fiend?
Oops, sorry I hijacked the thread.

How long can you wear a watch before the battery dies?
You can wear it the whole time before the battery dies. It's only after the battery dies that wearing it makes no sense.
