I'm sure I've seen something like that before but can't remember what it's about. I happen to have a lot of strawberries and lettuce at the moment because they were both irresistibly cheap; strawberries go bad fast and the lettuce has already been around for several days and there's plenty left...
Suggestions?
I don't have and won't go out now to buy any exotic ingredients but I have most basic salad stuff around the house. I know I've seen salads with strawberries and mango but don't happen to have mango and it's unlikely that one will turn up here, already ripe, before Shabbos... though if there's a good strawberry-mango recipe that could still go well without the mango, I'm game.

just use lettuce, strawberries, and candies nuts (you can make your own), and drizzle with a sweet dressing

Can you recommend a recipe for sweet dressing? I'm usually more of a salt+pepper+lemon juice type of salad maker.

Also wouldn't mind a candied nuts suggestion. I know honey roasted almonds but I don't think my recipe would work in a salad, they come out all gooey and also a little TOO hard and crunchy for a salad.

Here's the recipe. I think its from Susie Fishbein
Strawberry Spinach Salad
1/3 cup canola oil
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp onion powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp ground pepper
1/4 tsp dry mustard powder
1 pinch cayenne pepper or a shake or two of tabasco
1 Tbsp sesame seeds, toasted (or sliced/slivered almonds)
10 oz fresh (baby) spinach
1 pint fresh strawberries, sliced
I used slivered almonds when making this. I toasted them for a few minutes ( 400 degrees in the oven on a cookie sheet until just colored) to make them crunchier. I used a teaspoon or so of fresh mustard instead of the dry because I didn't have any dry, and added a little bit of raspberry syrup (to taste) to the dressing.

Sounds good but I'm still searching because we're allergic to mustard here and I'm off wine due to pregnancy (unless wine vinegar doesn't count? anyone know?) Thanks for sharing!

I'm no doctor but I would guess that the amount of alcohol in wine vinegar is negligible. And the amount you're consuming in any portion is very small anyway. If you are concerned about it, maybe substitute apple cider vinegar. As to the mustard, just leave it out. It's hardly an essential ingredient.

I just had something like that yesterday. I think it comprised of a green or romaine lettuce. A red or radiccio lettuce, red onion, cucumber and strawberries. I didn't take any dressing though, so I wouldn't know what to do with dressing. I was hoping to recreate it sometime soon. (Without dressing that is.)
