I gave my husband a palm pilot when I went for shabbos cuz he loves electronics.
some of my friends who just got married bought an ipod, others brought something he can use on shabbos like a siddur etc.

I didn't know that you're supposed to give a present while dating.
About a month or so after we started dating, DH had a birthday, so I got him a watch that had his team logo on it. I remembered him telling me that he used to have a team watch, and he loved it, and hadn't replaced it since it broke several years ago.

I bought my husband while engaged a lot of things.
As for the electronics like the ipod he has one already.
I thought something on the lines of a nice pair of pj pants with hearts on it?!? Unless I am weird.

there is no rule about it, I think that if you feel like giving one, you give, if not, you dont.

I'd think that's a tad intimate... maybe save those for the Yichud room.
What about an IOU for a Motza"Sh date... where the Kallah pays for everything?

no, obviously not to sleep in the kallahs house. but if you are spending shabbat with your chatan for the first time maybe, it is special and you might want to bring him something. I know the first time we spent shabbat together, I stayed in his neck of the woods, he gave me fowers, mind you, I was staying at someones house, but they were for me:) so its just a nice thing, thats all.
and to add to what defygravity said.....in my situation, my chatan was in yeshiva, not in his home country and I was living on my own already, so I was put up by a married friend by his yeshiva......thats all....

Sorry, I wasn't insinuating that you stayed with him - just saying that not everyone lives with their parents (I didn't, and neither did DH).
My husband lived about 3.5 hours away, so we would alternate weekends from the time we started dating and would each stay somewhere near where the other lived. It was a pain going back and forth, I'm definitely glad that's behind us now!

They buy them a gift by the first shabbos. After that every time they go for shabbos they bring him/her a gift.

supermom, you wrote that as if it is set in stone:) its not, everyone does things differently and there are NO rules in dating and engagement, you do what you feel is you and what you feel is right.

Am I the only one who was told it was ok to sleep in the same house before we were married? (We slept on different floors.) My DH even slept over once or twice before we were engaged.

It depends on who told you it was OK.
I was under the impression it was a big no-no

I think that it really depends on who you ask. we asked one rav and he said that it was a big no no but I am sure that there are others that say that it is not such a big no no.
