Minced garlic is chopped very small with a knife. Crushed garlic is crushed with a garlic press.

I also always wondered: when a recipe calls for two cloves of minced garlic, for example, how much do you put if youre using the spice?

1 clove frozen chopped is approx a tsp so I would assume 2 tsp
Personally I don't measure the powder I go by taste

I do. I treat minced and crushed interchangeably. I may be wrong, but my results have been fine.

I keep a whole bunch of packages of the frozen cubes in my freezer. Love them.

1 clove of garlic is equal to 1/2 tsp of the crushed fresh garlic.
The jarred garlic doesn't compare in taste.
The frozen cubes are great for most things (but not for everything.)

In what kind of things do you recommend using fresh garlic instead of the frozen cubes?

I use fresh garlic in garlic roasted chicken and vegetables, for marinating a garlic roast, etc.
And of course I use whole cloves of fresh garlic in my chicken soup, just slightly cut into.
