Unless it's a funeral of a very close family member I wouldn't take my kids. Maybe once they are teenagers, but it would depend on their relationship to the deceased

I don't think kids or even teenagers belong at a funeral. I think it is for adults. They just don't have an understanding of what it is and it's too depressing for them.

I took my boys 7 & 9 to my fil's levaya, but not to the k'vurah. They asked to go.We were at the cemetary but women don't go to the actual kvurah so they waited with us.I had to take my baby b/c we were gone all day ( we had to travel to NY & back home again) but my teenage neice came with my bro to babysit. That said, in general kids shouldn't go.I asked my 7yr old rebbi what to do. He knew the relationship b/t my kids & zaidy. Aside from that type of relationship think about what they will sit through.
Are there going to be a lot of hespedim? Can they sit that long? It's like a lot of other events that is depenant on the maturity of the child & their ability to sit.
