1 1/2 lbs. ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
1/2 cup chopped celery (or green pepper)
combine in a large skillet and cook until meat is browned
drain off pan drippings
Add:
a 15 oz. (used to be 16 oz. ) can of tomato sauce
3/4 cup ketchup
1/4 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
bring to a boil
cover, reduce heat, simmer 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally
can be served in pitas, with spaghetti etc.

Thanks for the idea, Motek! I took out ground beef for dinner tomorrow night and hadn't decided what to do with it.
Although I should check the size of my tomato sauce cans.

This was delicious!
I made it last night, served it in toasted pitas and a fresh veggie salad on the side. DH loved it :-D
I filled four pitas and had leftovers to freeze for next time...

This is an old post, but I found it through a search. Just wanted to say that I made this last week and we LOVED it! I'm not usually a fan of meat sauce, but this recipe converted me Thanks, Motek!

I showed this recipe to dh, saying it looks yummm, and he said it's slightly modified Bolognese
The longer you let it simmer (4 to 6h), the better.
