I was just reminded of this story. I attended a post-seminary program for a few months one fall. There was a girl in the program "Chani," who I was friendly with, but not close with, just knew her to say hello. I left the program to attend grad school, and lost touch with the girls.

Two years later, I got engaged, and was schmoozing with people at my vort. Chani walks in with her husband (friends with my chassan), pushing a stroller and with a baby. She said to me "Oh, hi! I recognize you! What are you doing here?"

I said, "Umm, I'm the kallah!" LOL

That's funny!

That reminds me of something that happened to me recently. I got a call from an old classmate that wanted to set me up with someone. . . I guess she was out of the loop and didn't realize I'd been married for a year!

Actually the story gets funnier. A week later, my husband got a call, it was Chani. She said, "Hi, this is Chani, "Dovid's" wife. I have an idea for you."

DH: "Ummm, I'm kind of busy. Actually, I'm engaged. I thought you knew."

Chani was silent for a moment. "Oh, is this Yanky Freed? I meant to call Yanky Smith!"

(FYI, now 5 years later, Chani and I are quite good friends! It really was a mistake- she called the wrong "Yanky!")

when we got engaged, we didnt annonce our engagement for 3 weeks. my dh sisters was recently engaged, with a short engagement, and we didnt want to take away from her simcha. so at her wedding, when people asked me my connection I said I was a friend to the kallah from school. Well, we did go to the same school, but she was a couple years ahead of me.......
anyway, one of my dh cousind was talking to me, asking about me etc. she wanted to set me up-with dh!!!!

This reminds me of something funny that happened. A women called on my husband's cell phone and asked for him so I passed the call on to him. After he got off I asked him who it was, I was really curious. His answer,
"Oh it was such and such shadchan she had a really good shidduch for me." I asked him what he answered her

"Well, I let her finnish then simply told her that I don't think that my wife would allow me to have a second wife. She assured me that she would remove me from her list"

lol I was rolling on the floor. We were already married almost 2yrs and already had a baby!

About a year after I got married, my parents got a letter from a shadchan service telling them they can call as they have a shidduch for me!
When my friend wanted to use this service I suggested she check out the prospects really well, as they need to update their lists!

heres a weird one for y'all:

when I was engaged already, one of the shaddchaniot that I had gone to (and forgotten to tell that I was engaged) called me and told me that she had someone for me. I told her that I had just gotten engaged but thank you. she said, well, let me just tell you about him anyway. I couldnt get a word in edge wise so she finished and said, what do you think? I told her, again:), that I was engaged and do you know what she said? she goes "oh, thats too bad, b/c I thought that this guy was perfect for you".......
can you just imagine?.....to this day when I tell that story I never know wheather to laugh or cry:)
