do you think melon with rasperrries is acceptable as a starter for a meal?
not just for an ordinary day but for meals on chag and shabbat

If you don't have to have fish (dh always has to do fish) then I think melon is a nice refreshing start to a meal. I've had it before. As for the raspberries, make sure that whoever you're having will eat them.

In my house it is completely acceptable. I rarely serve soup and if I do, if I don't have company, that's the whole meal. On the first night of pesach this year, I was originally planning on just serving chicken soup with veg. for the seuda, but since we had company, I served a whole meal. On Friday nights I serve fish and salad/dips and then the meal. On shabbos day, eggs and salad and dips. On y't at night it's usually the same and for the day, I very often serve a piece of fruit done nicely to each person with salads and dips.

Sounds delicious and refreshing. I think most appropriate in the spring/summer months.
