I mean without pareve sour cream. I can't get anything like that whatsoever. I googled pareve cream sauce for herring and only the ready made ones came up to purchase. If no one has, what kind of sauce can I use for herring? TIA

This is a delicious cream sauce for salmon - tastes like the shtiglitz cream sauce for herring.
• 1/2 cup water
• 1/2 cup vinegar
• 1 cup lemon juice
• 2 Tbsp salt
• 2 cups sugar
• 4 Tbsp mayonnaise
Mix well with hand blender. Or just pour into a jar, cover, and shake really hard until very smooth.
Add
• 1 onion, sliced
• 4 bay leaves
• 1 Tbsp pickling spice
Let sit for 2 days.
