I made this with soy chop meat and it turned out great. dh couldn't tell is wasn't real beef.

Fast and cheap (I mean the dish), so I will make it again this way.

Made this for supper tonight.
It was pretty good, my kids wouldn't go near it with a 10 ft pole, so I'm not sure I would do it again.
Guess I couldn't hide the chopped meat from them LOL

my kiddies didn't like the onions they spotted - oh well it was yum, but I'll probably have to go back to plain meatballs and plain spaghetti (seprate - no touching)

Mine didn't like the onions either, so I left them out. I also double the amount of pasta, add the whole can of tomato sauce, and double the water.

Oh, I didnt have tomato sauce so I added a can of chopped tomatoes. I also used a whole wheat/spelt spiral pasta.

I tried it a while ago using a crockpot, and it came out a bit too liquidy and macaroni VERY soggy to our taste. Though I really like the concept of not having to cook the pasta beforehand, I'm not sure about exactly how much liquid to use. Any tips? BTW we do similar chicken and pasta bake for Friday nights (except pasta is precooked).

It has a very different consistancy in the crockpot.
If find that leaving out all liquids when converting a stove top recipe, is the way to go. Try it with the tomato ingredients, and either leave out the water or put just a teeny bit of it.

I tried this last night and honestly, I didn't think anyone would like it, especially not dh. (But it was quick and easy, which is what I was looking for.) Lo and behold, everyone loved it and wolfed it down! Thanks for the recipe.

I made this today for tonight's supper & although it smells really good, it looks very liquidy. What did I do wrong?

Never mind. It thickened a bit once it cooled off & it tastes really good. Next time I'll just add a bit less water.

Thanks, cookielady!

I made it last night. I skipped the sugar and put in 2 T of medium salsa. It gave it a nice flavor.

Just made it with whole wheat pasta, & more veggies. I also replaced the sauce with diced tomatoes & added turmeric, curry powder, paprika & fresh garlic. Amazing!
