I used to take the train every day and oftentimes saw people filing their nails, as casually as another person might be reading a book or listening to their walkman. All I could think about was how some of the microscopic nail particles that were being filed off were surely landing on the lap of the person sitting next to them.

My brother used to commute by car daily. He used to meet a guy shaving in the car while driving ,they were on the same schedule so he always got to see him on the highway.

That's amazing. yesterday on the train a guy pulled out a little razor and started shaving his face. Yum.
In the a.m. I see women putting on a complete makeup job, foundation to eyelash curler and tweezing(!) Privacy aside--aren't they afraid they'll stab themselves in the eye with a mascara wand when the train jerks? (That's what they are, come to think of it: train jerks! Jerkettes?)

The makeup, nail filing, brushing hair, even shaving doesn't phase me at all. Especially during a morning commute. But cutting nails and picking noses...UGGGG!
