It was Shabos, we were packed in pretty tightly on a bench in shul, and I didn't appreciate it.

A long time ago I used to go to a lecture series in a certain shul and always saw some lady sewing during the shiur. I thought it was really disgraceful and disrespectful. Much, much later I met this woman face-to-face, found out she lived in my neighborhood, and eventually we became friends. I learned that far from doing her mending, she had been hand-sewing a poroches for the shul where the shiur was given. That sure put a different complexion on her activity!
anon b/c the lady in the story may be here.

I once saw someone knitting during a shiur. I thought maybe she concentrated better while multi-tasking.

Someone has guts.
Unless I put on my Dan L'kaf Z'chus thinking cap and I come up with.......Maybe her hands fell asleep (pins and needles) and she's trying to wake them up. ( Can't say I didn't try)

Hey Tefillah, How about she's meeting her Chosson at a bus stop or her mother-in-law is picking her up from the bus stop. Oh I'd be brushing my sheitel big time

Was that me, SaraG? I suffer terribly from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I sleep in hand braces/wrist immobilizers, and very, very often I get the pins and needles sensation. It is horrible! But I'm not such a saint; I wouldn't say that woman was doing her exercises because of this. If my hand would start tingling during a shiur, I'd quietly slip out of the room and do what I need to do in privacy.

No, downs, it was not you! But it was okay; we all managed with her wiggling around.
Are you back from the country already?

Yes, we are back home. The five star hotel was more like a half star nightmare. The accommodations and the service left a lot to be desired so we just packed up and came home and now I love my home more than I ever did before!!!

I was in the meat section of our kosher store and there was an elder gentleman with his wife clipping his nails as he walked down the aisle. I went and asked the manager if someone who could sweep the aisles because I myself was 7 months pregnant and b"h there were many other women in our community who were also (besides for the fact that it was disgusting). Why would anybody do that?!!
