I have a problem with 2 students.
Student 'x' really likes and is looking up to student 'y' but student 'y' doesn't even look in her direction.
She even feels great when student 'x' is making mistakes.
How can I change student 'y' behaviour????
Any advice is really welcome!!

How old are the students? Have them work together on a project where the success of student x is dependent on the attitude of student Y, whereby is Y doesnt work together and try to HELP Y succeed the grade will reflect on them both? This can be tricky- because you dont want to penalise x if Y refuses to help out, but it may work in showing Y that as a class we support each other.
Good luck.
This week (with in my Lower Ability HEbrew reading group) I partnered the kids up- sent them away to have one who I had already tested help the other prepare for their "test" it as incredible to see them working together and coming up with methods and techniques to help their partner. I.E one child gave each letter an action- out of the corner of my eye while I was testing the weaker student I could see his partner acting like he was driving a car when we got to the letter "Kaf" completely defeated the purpose but lovely to see the team work.

The students are +-9 years old, the problem is tht student 'x' is much stronger and more ahead then student 'y'.
So the main reason why she is acting like tht is jealousy...
