Hi,
My husband loves fresh fried fish. But I never have time after work to bread and fry before supper. Can I bread the fish tonight, keep it in the fridge and fry it tomorow??
Thanks

It'll absorb way too much oil, I wouldn't do it. It's not like chicken that has to be pounded out and cleaned up. It just needs to be washed well and dipped and fried. It can't add more than 10 minutes to your dinner preparations. I would rather concentrate on preparing your sides ahead of time. Also panko bread crumbs are so much better than regular crumbs and they absolutely cannot be prepared ahead of time.

merrymom, oil? I usually bread with flour, egg and regular seasoned breadcrumbs.
im actually pretty sure you can do this OP...my mil does this with shnitzel and freezes it that way -you cant tell.
in stores, you can buy breaded fish and once its fried - it comes out crunchy.
I would say go for it!

OP was asking if she can just bread the fish without frying and keep it in the fridge to fry to next day...

Right, but when she goes to fry it that's when it'll absorb alot of oil because the breadcrumbs have become moist.

I agree that I won't leave the breaded fish overnight, it will definitely go soggy.
BUT, you can bread and fry the night before, and reheat them in the oven before serving.
Admittedly it's not as good as fresh-fried, but certainly doable.
Or you cut the fish into pieces, let soak in egg. It doesn't take much time just to coat with breadcrumbs and fry.
