Well, matzos mama started a thread in which she explains that a rabbi told her she could post on Shabbos because she's lonely in the hospital.

I think the point was that tweety99 was not in fact accurate that no one posts on Shabbos.

To quote MM from the other thread, which is in response to this thread:

Hello all,
Apperently I offend several ladies by posting on a Friday night. This is to explain why there were several post from me this past Friday night.
After speaking with my Rabbi, and explaining that I was in the hosptial with my daughter, whom is in DKA. (Diabetic Ketone Acidoios) That I needed to connect to something other than doctors and nurses and other hosptial things. (If you had a child in the hospital you know what mean.) This is a very difficult time and the Rabbi gave me consent that it would be ok to connect to the net and go to several sites that we discussed. Imamother.com was one of them. (I guess you could say that this was my heter. Yes I asked what the word meant ) I am not going to grovel nor will I apologize for this. This is how I am handling the stress of what I am going through. I believe that HaShem led me to this site for the support that I needed when I converted,(BT) and now when my child is sooooo ill, I hope that support and UNDERSTANDING would still be there. |
Actually, I think MatzosMama started her thread IN RESPONSE
to this thread.
She understood that people were puzzled.
I feel we should be welcoming and understanding of all
Jews, here, and everywhere. Especially, those who are going through
difficult times. She did the right thing by asking a Rav.
THat's what we keep telling ourselves to do and to increase on this site.
Anyone from Pittsburgh ???
Maybe you know MatzosMama, or, at least her Rabbi.
That may help with her and her sick daughter ??!???

Ahh a bunch of disolusioned people...I think this post is hysterical.
I seriously do not look to see "oh my, someone is on...is she in my time zone even though it's shabbos in the US...or is she in the US....hmmm maybe she isn't keeping shabbos...OMG! What am I to do???....I know"...[scuttles off to call lor].
If you have nothing else to do all day but calculate exactly when someone posted on the website, I seriously suggest you get a life.
And loads of people will be posting shabbos your time.
Oh and as for the question...would you like people to reply to it on shabbos just so you know?

Rivka is right. Noone tells anyone when to or not to post. If someone is mechalel Shabbos, that's between them & G-d. Lets all worry about our own frumkeit.

OMG, you remember Art Raymond?
Where in the world was the cafe Baba that he always advertised? I couldn't stand that name, b/c I babysat for a family that used the term "baba" to describe the contents of a dirty diaper.

I agree, besides I don't think any woman who is not frum or at least becoming frum would be interested in this website. I am sure there are much more exciting forums out there in cyberspace. And if someone is becoming frum, let's not push them away by being quick to make a judgement.
By the way SaraG, I am not trying to attack you. I realise your post was simply an observation

sorry, no Orthodox rav will allow someone to surf the net because they're lonely, and Yael did write that this forum is for frum people
I'm still waiting for someone to respond to my pm that I wrote them erev Shavuos. They were posting at a time when it was Yom Tov in their stated location. I can judge her favorably and think maybe she went away for Yom Tov, but it is also her responsibility to either see to it that she doesn't do things that look like transgressions or to provide an explanation.
It's between them and G-d if it's done privately. If done publicly, that's another story.
and yes, Lily, there is at least one reform woman on here who may or may not be Jewish, she hasn't been clear about that
