I mean, not the board, I don't think it's shut down, but its users, are they all Shomer Shabbos/Shomer YOmtov?
I've seen some posts ON shabbos/y.t........

Yes, I know that, but if a post appeared as last night at 9 PM, how could that be? Even if the poster is Australian.

I was in Hawaii about 3 weeks ago and I realized that I was posting when it was already shabbos for most of the users (Hawaii is 6 hrs behind EST). I was thinking if people noticed the times that things are posted, they might think it was posted on shabbos. I don't think people are posting on this site on Shabbos. Just in a different time zone. But who knows?

I believe the site time is set to Greenwich Mean Time, so people in a time zone ahead of that where shabbos is already over would appear to be posting during shabbos. Make any sense? I had a long day and didn't phrase it well.

SaraG
Are you shomer torah?
Do you keep the laws of ahavas yisroel and not speaking loshon harah?
I dont think that this post is very nice and it is obvious who you are directing it towards.
What is your point exactly?

Why does anyone think SaraG is attacking anyone? she is simply observing something that I have also observed and puzzled over, till I figured it out.
The Australians are 16 hours ahead of EST, Israeli time is 7 hours ahead, English 5, Paris is 6 etc.
Then there is just one day YomTov instead of two for most Israelis... I think the only YomTov that's also two days for them is Rosh HaShana. (Although this Shavuos went straight into Shabbos , so they had two days anyway) so all 'discrepancies' are accounted for.

leave sarag alone for a change. I've wondered about that too. I sometimes come on on a motzei shabbos and find 197 posts when I logged on five minutes before the zman erev shabbos.
I assume its time difference, however I do wonder sometimes...

How bout we go with benefit of doubt here, they could be on vacation elsewhere and logged in or a big liar about where they live, it does not mean they are being mechalel shabbas.

I dont see how that would help, there is time where it would still be shabbos someplace else.

I don't see why it's our business to make sure everyone keeps shabbos. This was just an observation.

Maybe we shut down imamother, because maybe someone feels insecure about other poeple maybe posting on Shabat. Then maybe we stop posting since we might hurt someone's feelings, maybe we stop posting because we might say something that might be Lashon Hara, maybe we stop posting because we can cause someone else to think things they are not supposed to think, ......
This site is getting sicker and sicker by the day.
GET ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!! Stope worrying about others. Do what is right and other poeple will leran from you for doing things right!

Could there be a shaaloh about the server being up on shabbos and Yomtov admin time? I suppose the administration would have thought of that. I'd be curious to know. why it would or would not be a shaaloh.

I think that the answer is that it is b/c even when it is 'admin time' it is shabbos elsewhere and vise versa. So what would it accomplish?

not neccasarily true. I set my board to show times for Israel time, so if someone posted something after yom tov in america, and I am sleeping already, it will say, lets say for example, 4am and it is 9pm in new jersey.
so, if that was your confusion sara.....I think thats all, there are ppl from all different time zones and when yom tov is over over here it is not in north america yet, so......
does that make any sense?
