Is it just me, or do others find being well dressed (b/c after all you're a Bas Melech) or being nice to DH ....or having many guests.......
uh......

oh please do not remind me....
I worked as a Mashgicha for a short time..my daughter told me that I could not pick her up anymore because I always smelled and was a mess..
She misses the food from the cateriing business, but she's glad that I work in an office now because I always look nice

No it's not just you life at times for everyone can be challenging it was not supposed to be a picnic. We have to constantly strive to grow, how can we do that if we have no challenges....

What? I am a perfect bas yisroel and I am utterly shocked that other people here are not. My house is always spotless, I dress better than Princess Diana did (and I'm always modest as well), my children are perfectly behaved and I never say a cross word to my DH because he is absolutely perfect as well. I have at least 10 guests every shabbos, I always use china (the finest available) and I only serve the most delicious gourmet foods, hard to find delicacies and my guests sleep on the most comfortable beds, with the warmest, softest, downiest blankets money can buy.
Ok - now picture the opposite - and thats me. SarahG - you are not alone. I am definitely not one that dresses anywhere near a bas malka. Sometimes I really have to bite my tongue not to scream at my Dh (and sometimes I scream at him and miss the tongue biting all together - and don't even mention the sarcasm. . .) and guests? I do try in that area- but I eat at my in-laws all the time so I don't even get the chance that much.

I just came from a going away party of a very close friend. I consider this friend, along with all the women, at a higher madriga then me. I so admire them. The woman who's leaving is such a pure and humble soul and very chesedik.
But what's differant now, baruch hashem, is I don't let the yetzer hora get me down about others being better than me. I had so much nachat just having the zechut to be in the same room and to be able to socialize with these women. Pure admiration without shame or jelousy.
Most of the women only knew me by face. My dd clung and literaly hid behind me as we entered the home. I stood up to give a few words of praise for our mutual friend. I was choked up with emotion, but words eventually came, and they came from the heart. Everyone else seemed moved too.
In the end I was exchanging telephone numbers with the hostess and others. I'm not sure how this actually ties into the topic. Maybe it just the lesson that being simple, honest and largesse in spirit is what being a true dugma tova (good example) is all about.
