I see many women talk about their cleaning ladies. I am just wondering how many of you have them.

I have such a tiny apartment that it's not a big deal for me to clean it myself. Besides, cleaning women are sooo expensive here - they take over $20 an hour! - that it's quite a luxury to have one. But I must say that I haven't done a really thorough cleaning for ages, meaning polishing the furniture, the silver and so on. My refrigerator hasn't been properly done since Pesach! Windows too. But if I were more organized (and spent less time on this forum) I could probably accomplish all of it myself.

I have full-time help. I have to admit that it is handy, since I am not a major cleaner, but it's also not the most ideal. Due to our schedules we have an Aupair 8 hours a day. We really don't like the idea of leaving our baby with a [gentile] but in our situation (where we live, etc.) there isn't much of a choice. B"H our baby sleeps about 4 of the 8 hours she is here, but it still isn't what we would want! Luckily the aupair doesn't live with us, so she's out after her work day is done.

Why am I anonymous you ask? Maybe 'cuz I feel kind of guilty to be able to have such help with one child when so many out there can really use it! (BTW we live in a place where labor is very cheap, so it's not that we're paying a lot!)

amother, I don't see why you need to feel guilty about having help if you 1) need it and 2) can have it for very little money. Are you afraid people won't "fargin" you? I don't think the mothers here are so mean-spirited!

dear amother, don't feel guilty at all!
I have somebody come over and clean the "heavy" stuff once a week, 3 hours each time (costs 8 euro per hour...), but believe me, if I could afford more, I would gladly get more help! When I was folding 5 rounds of laundry last night, even my husband said we have a household which justifies more help... Very Happy
I have a friend in another european country, where hired help is half of what we pay, and she doesn't have a washing machine, so I fshe has a lot of guests on shabbos, on shabbos morning her cleaning lady comes in to do the dishes!

I would love to have help to get it all done at once. I decided I can either have the upstairs clean or downstairs, but not both at once! I am a stay-at-home mom with kids in school all day, so I should be able to get it all done, and I try. I keep it pretty clean but it takes a lot of time. Also I feel if I had someone I would still have to wipe the counters, spot-clean the baths, and vacuum cause my floors get really yucky almost daily!

My "helping hands" comes in only 3 hours a week, but I also miss her so when she goes on vacation!
Imaamy, why is it that we feel that, when we stay home and the kids are in school, all we have to be busy with is our household?! Of course you can't clean both floors, that would mean that all you would do the whole time is cleaning.... Confused

I have a couple come on fridays for an hour. It is a great relief that all I have to do on friday is cook. I hate cleaning so for me I need it. I found ever since my baby is born it is hard to find time for anything. She likes to be held alot.

Rivky, I don't know how old your baby is, and if you have more children, but holding your child is way more important than cleaning in my book!!! Very Happy
We shouldn't have to apologize for prioritising tending to our children, or our individual needs before cleaning!
