sub younger grades when begged to

Besides car management, where do you get the rest of your home management material? I teach a life skills class at a post HS seminary and am always looking for new material.

I go crazy trying to come w/ s/t each week!! I teach the whole H.S. (all 8 girls), so I cant even repeat one year to the next! Wanna start a new topic here-maybe we could get more ideas.

Some of the things I've done:

Laundry-including dryer safety-cleaning out the exhaust pipe
ironing
sewing on buttons/snaps
balancing checkbook
cooking/baking
menu planning-and shoping list to go with it

I teach 9th grade girls in frum school, math. Not my subject and first yr doin high school! Did 6th grade girls for 3 years and before that 5 years of 4th grade girls. I think next year will be my first teaching-free year since seminary! I've taught for the past 9 years-wonder what I'll feel like giving it up for awhile....

I kind of resent that comment "choppy jobs" As I said I have been teaching special ed. in the public school system for actually 16 years..I taught for 4 years then quit to have my kids and went back 16 years latter and have been teaching for 10 years. I enjoy my job, although Im very busy between my own kids and grand kids and family obligations.

My "choppy" career is not because of my own doing, either. I taught 2 yrs. of 5th grade, 5 yrs. of middle school math and then the school closed down, 1 yr. of playgroup, and now I'm back to upper elementary math. I'm looking to move into the public school system next year, so if any of you hear of an opening in NJ for a middle school mathematics teacher, (pretty) please let me know. I have a CE in Elem K-5 and a CE in MS Math.

High school English, grades 10-12 in a public school; after-school ESL. This was not quite what I was planning. I wanted a frum school. I wanted to teach Tanach as well. I am probably going to have to leave teaching for a while, until there are more jobs and my husband is making a steady salary. I am really upset about circumstances forcing me out of teaching :-(

I taught nursery, kindergarten, pre-1a, both as teacher and assistant, both here in NY and for a year on shlichus. Currently I'm subbing in kindergarten and my friend's playgroup, and doing the bus routes, and babysitting for my baby grandson Smile .

I also taught subjects for upper elementary grades, subbed high school and elementary grades in previous years. I've also done office work, data entry, writing and editing, and lice checking for camps and schools!

I teach 9th grade English this year, but I've taught 9-12 over the past 7 years.
I love teaching but it does NOT pay me enough (especially since the BY I'm working for this year keeps bouncing/delaying/only giving 75% of my paychecks). I'm going to have to stop soon and find something else Sad

So many English teachers!

I have given private piano lessons for a few years--does that count?

I'm in graduate school now but when I'm finished and really teaching (not just student teaching and internships, etc.) it will be mostly teaching braille and assistive technology for students who are blind or have low vision.

What made you decide to teach that?

I taught English to native English speakers in Israel grades 1-8 for 5 years.
Now I teach English in a Belzer high school. They don't learn English in groups (it's a minhag) so I teach pairs. I have 2 pairs each period, and I teach one while the other does quiet work, then switch. The funniest part of this job is that I'm 100% litvish, but I have to dress Chasidish for work. It's hysterical! I'm just waiting for my daughter to express her mortification! (she's almost 9). It's totally worth it, though. I B"H love my job, and I have tons of vacation (but get paid 12 months a year.)

I taught in Satmar and a friend of mine still does and we never had to dress chasidish, only tznius. They also have non jewish teachers, but when they have a jewish teacher, even if she's not religious, they make them dress tznius and cover their hair if they're married.
