The helicopters and police presence continues. They did make a cpl of arrests but have yet to find the official guy. He dressed up as a police man from out of state adn attempted abducting quite a few girls. He got one and let her out shortly after in a deserted area.
Here's an old ny1 article about it.
------------
Police are warning parents and children to be on the lookout for a man they say is posing as a police officer to lure children into his car.
They know of at least three incidents in Brooklyn and a separate one in Queens.
In all three Brooklyn cases, police say the 25 to 30-year-old suspect drove up to young girls in a dark-colored Jeep and said he was a cop.
In two of the incidents the girls ran away, but in one of them, police say the child got in the car and the man fondled her.
"It's really disturbing, because I have young sons myself and cops are authority figures in the neighborhood, so you would think they could be someone that your kids could go to for help and then approaching the children themselves," says resident Dawn Zertuche. "It's upsetting."
Police say the Queens incident happened Tuesday morning on 53rd Avenue in Elmhurst.
They say a man in his thirties pulled a dark colored car up to a 12-year-old girl and asked the girl to get in and give him directions. When she got in the car, police say the man told her he was a police officer and began to touch her.
She eventually got away.
