I was just redding a shidduch to s/o & they asked me if the person is a hard core ___ (put in any chassididm). Is that lashon actually used these days like that? when I hear that word I just think it's a dirty word. I know it can be used in other ways but doesn't it have a bad connotation???? do I just have a dirty mind or am I sensitive?

Maybe I'm very sheltered, but I didnt know "hard core" even has a dirty connotation and use it all the time

I've heard people use it very innocently but it is weird because it has a bad connotation.

I also never knew that it has a "dirty" connotation. What is it?

It has no dirty connotation. You are confusing ONE of its meanings with "dirty."

Hardcore means:

hard-core: intensely loyal; "his hard-core supporters"

hard-core: extremely explicit; "hard-core [filth]"

that expression is mostly used in a dirty way. personally I wouldnt use it, but if you're talking among frum ppl I think they'll know u dont mean it in that way.

I Disagree. I thyink its great that you are sensitive about language. that means u have an aidlekeit which so many are lacking! dont loose that about you, and when u dont like something, thats fine! everyone has thier own opinions and yours are fine too.
