I originally planned one menu, then cleaned out my freezer. So I am doing differently than I originally planned because I need to use up some stuff from the freezer.
Homemade whole wheat challah
Sweet and sour salmon
Avocado, tomato and hearts of palm salad
Lacto-fermented salsa (homemade)
Lacto-fermented pickles (homemade)
Babaganoush
Mock chopped liver
Greens salad with honey mustard dressing
Chicken soup with matza balls
Mini yerushalmi kugel with homemade noodles (this is the first time I'm attempting yerushalmi kugel and I'm not sure how it came out. I don't have my hopes up. Its in the oven currently.
Salty challah kugel (experiment. I'll let you know how it comes out.)
Glazed Turkey wings

What is Italian Schnitzl as opposed to any other kind of schnitz?
And I know it sounds really dumb to ask, but what is this "deli roll" that everyone keeps writing about?
I want to use up stuff from the freezer on the one hand, and our chayal is finally home after a long hiatus on the other and we have the two middle girls and oldest dd, hubby and baby so I decieded to make good desserts and good salads and all the rest take out of the freezer.
Friday nite:
challah (bought)
chumus (bought)
techina (bought)
egg salad
macaroni salad
Pickle salad
garlicky green beans salad
chumus balls (arbis)
baked falafel balls (imamother recipie)
edamame
fried onions
pan fried chopped eggplant (pam)
green salad (cucumbers, peppers, carrots, all diced and kept separate)
lentil and veg soup (freezer)
wild rice (fresh)
chicken and meat (freezer, only heaven knows from when) with good gravy
double chocolate cake with double chocolate frosting
buckwheat cake with cooked no-fat homemade cornstarch pudding topping (for dh and me, dieting)
homemade cooked banana cornstarch pudding
fruit
shabbos day:
challah
same salads as night before
baked schnitzl
baked knishes
challah-onion kugel
same desserts at night before
I hope there will be enough to eat leftovers until Tuesday, and enough salads so that the kids can take to work for lunch all week.

When I make Italian Shnitzle it's with Italian dressing, breadcrumbs, and fried with onions.
Deli roll is pastry dough a sauce slathered on (usally any of the following or a combination: mayo, mustard, ketchup, duck sauce, etc. etc.) and then layered deli, and then rolled up and baked.

Do you have a recipe for the smores brownies? |
I make my regular brownie recipe (dunkin Heinz) take it out of oven while still warm I put marshmellow fluff on top as the fluff melts I spread it around the top of the brownies. then I drizzle Choco syrup in straight lines and bring those lines together with a knife easy and very pretty.

I make the same one but use p. onion and frozen peas, thawed. I loved it cuz it's one of those salads I can quickly throw together on Shabbos, if an unexpected crowd shows up. Btw, I mix the mayo and spices in with the peas while frozen and just leave it to thaw...

I hate to break it to you, but you aren't truly Hungarian traditional.... Tomato dip? Chumus?! My mother would never dream of putting that stuff on her Shabbos table. Coleslaw? Where's the cucumber salad?! And how about the compote?

So here's the joke. Everyone is always laughing at my buckwheat cakes except dh who will eat anything I make and tells me he loves it and he loves me. But the kids keep telling me that it tastes like straw and how can we eat it.
So...I have this incredible double chocolate cake for them..and the buckwheat for us. And the baby, my grandson who is a bit over a year and a month old, so now they try to give him the chocolate cake and he takes a bite and it's so so...and he toddles over to me and opens his little mouth and I put in a piece of buckwheat cake and he loves it...and comes back for another and another and another and another...
HA! So there! Someone loves his bobbeh!
