Oy! My brother is 32 and he is still traumatized from the alarm he was put on at 6yrs old. Also he had bad ear infections and it affected his hearing a little so everyone else heard the alarm but him. Did your doctor suggest it?

6 is way too young for the alarm. It only works in kids who are mature enough to get themselves up and out of bed to the bathroom when it goes off, usually no younger than 11.

I'd just ignore it for now. Most kids still wetting at 6 will outgrow it by 9 or 10. This is considered normal development, not a problem. Let her know that she is normal, and that it will pass, then don't dwell on it.

The Malem Ultimate alarm worked like a charm, my 5 year old DS went from wetting every night to be completely night trained within a months, and now 2 years later he hasn't had one single accident since then. I recommend it highly. Read the reviews on amazon, it seems like nearly everyone had sucess with it.

Another amother here; my brother also had the alarm and everyone heard it but him.
Six is such a tender age for this kind of invasive thing.

The most important thing is to tell them it's ok, it's normal, many kids do it, many kids in the class bed-wet and no one knows about it. This is the approach I took with my nine-year old and at age ten we finally got to see dry nights. I am glad I did not use the alarm, never shamed the child for it. It is beyond the child's control.

My parents used to wake me from my sleep until age twelve. I still woke up wet. Despite them waking me.

It's a developmental thing. Gotta wait for the body to develop.

If you are still hell-bent on getting him dry at night. I'd rather dry the DDAVP, it worked like a charm for one of my kids and did not work at all for another.

The book Dry All Night is nice too. Kids read it on their own and it actually did the trick with two of my kids.

Different Malem alarm mother here. There is no shame in the alarm at all. In fact my DS looked forward to using it. It worked very quickly, around 2 weeks.

It's true a child should never be shamed and it's beyond the child's control, but the alarm seems to help many children, even as young as 5.

No shame at all. My DS was so happy to use it bec. he wanted his problem to go away, and it didn't wake up anyone else (except us we bec. either we heard it while we were still up, or we put a baby monitor to his room so we could hear it.) I recommend it to everyone! It really works wonders.

Another Malem family (ultimate, I think). Our ped told us about the alarm and recommended it around age 7, but we waited until dd decided to use it, after her 8th birthday. Our medical insurance would cover some portion of the cost if certain conditions were met after age 7. It required some dedication on the part of mother and child (I slept in her room for a couple nights), but it worked within a week. The Bedwetting Store (website) has a book we found useful.

its true that at 6 she's still young but she's starting to get uncomfortable when we have to go to my mil or my mother esp. since her younger sis is always dry. we always talk how everyone's body is different and the only reason it happens to her its cuz she sleeps soooo deeply.

she's pretty embarrassed and would tell me that her pj's are wet cuz water spilled and so on... even though I always tell her that I really don't care.. it doesn't matter

for her sake I thought the alarm might do the trick

I had read the ratings on amazon and it seems like lots of people are doing for kids this age.

THANKS FOR ALL YOU ADVICE !
