I was wondering what you ladies feel about body jewelry for the sake of enhancing one's intimate life with her husband, I.e. a belly ring.
While I'm sure it's nothing to go ahead and publicize, is it wrong according to halacha?
I happen to think body jewelry is beautiful. I would love to get a small nose ring but obviously, it's not accepted in the Jewish world. It makes me wonder because when Avraham sent Eliezer to find a wife for Yitchok, the Chumash says straight out that he brought nose rings for Rivka. When was that done away with? What difference is there in ears and a nose?
Just thinking...

I remember learning that the jewelry Rivka got wasn't an actual nose ring. Rather, it was a beaded band around her forehead, w/ a pendant hanging down in the center over the bridge of the nose.

I don't know if there are any halachos regarding body jewelery. according to what I learned about rivka, she DID davka have a nose ring. I guess the nose ring went out of jewish fashion the way other garments of that time did.

sorry I disagree with you all, I think earing are just about it. I have zero taiva for a nose ring or belly ring, and a tatoo neither. I want my body as pure clean as possible... do you think your husband will get more tuned on if he sees a ring on your nose... put on longer earings... whats the difference. and besides how do you wipe your nose. if you do it, do it in the summer so you have less wiping...

Go ahead pierce your nose your nipples, your belly... whatever works for you. I don't get the beauty of it and would only see it a nuisance. Halachically I doubt there's a problem. Socially, living in a frum community you might be considered a bit odd - at least the obvious piercing. Although there is a halacha against scarring your body. I have to check with dh the details.

I'm not sure how a belly ring would enhance your intimate life with your husband, but if that's what rocks his boat or whatever you want to call it, go ahead and pierce away. I don't think it's against any halachah.

As far as I know, the halacha against scarring your body only applies if you're doing so as a sign of mourning. It's possible that the issur extends to scarring your body for other reasons as well, I don't know. And as far as I know, there is no halachic problem with body piercings. I think it depends on the circles you run in. In my circles, a woman having a nose ring is fairly accepted. I also know a few women who had piercings in other places, and told me when they were engaged that if their husbands are happy with them, they see no reason to remove them (the piercings, that is ). Whether they still have them or not, now that they're married, is none of my business.

I can't understand for the life of mine why someone would ruin their body with piercings tatoos etc. It's permanent! Are you so sure you'll never regret it? And p.s, piercings (and tatoos for sure) are pretty painful, from what I hear.

The post on a nose ring is bent at a 90 degree angle, so the part that is inside your nose is flush up against the wall of your nostril. There's nothing poking out into your nasal passage.

You can always take out a piercing. You're right about tattoos, though.

does not get infected often, maybe in the first week if not properly taken care of..but like any other earring.
and removing, is like any earring..you do take out your earrings to dunk right? its the same thing, absolutely no effort to remove.
personally I had a belly ring, and to tell you the truth after I got pregnant the hole which closed up and the stretching of the stomach caused me to have this ugly scar.....real ugly.....
and a nose ring, so many people have thing, you honestly think all of them have running noses bc they cant blow/wipe...?

I have no problem wiping or blowing my nose when I get a cold. As someone already posted, the post of the earring is bent at a 90 degree angle.

I have a ring in my nose and I have no problems blowing it or keeping it clean at all.
Why are earrings so different than other body jewelry? Or do people feel the same about earrings as well? I've been wondering this for a while.

I don't wear any jewelery, including a wedding band.
However, there are ways to simulate body jewelry to enhance intamacy.
For example, taking a frozen pea and putting it on your tongue makes a "tongue ring".

I love the beaded bands they use to wear on their foreheads at their wedding. I think some still wear it. I think its so glorious.
