I saw the cutest woman wearing the cutest Yom Kippur outfit - orange T-shirt, white skirt and orange Crocs. Not what I'd wear on YK but right for her! Now, back to black...

Can I recommend that the OP change the title to delete the "a"?
Otherwise, it's subject to humorous misinterpretation...

I wear black shells under black sweaters, dresses and jackets. I think if you look good in black, wear it!
Sometimes I would wear a white blouse undernesth or a white shirt with black stripes.

I would go with anything besides black or white, unless you want to look like a yeshiva bochur
personally, I think black should be dressed up with some color- or at least an interesting texture.

Depending upon the pieces, black and white can look waitress-y.
Black and yellow ---> bee.
What to wear really depends on the pieces and the look you're going for. Virtually any color can be worn with black.

You'd think a yellow shell would make a black outfit look bee-like, right? But you can't imagine how good this one outfit looked. As you said, it depends. You have to look in a mirror and see.
Silver would be striking, but you'd have to pick up the color with an accessory, earrings or even silver streaks in a tichel. Gold or I dare not say red - probably overpowering.
