It's not that many years tht DH even has a Shabbos tallis mind you, but iirc one day Chol Hamoed he forgot his and had to borrow from one of the men in shul. The man proceeded to open his Shabbos Tallis Bag to lend him his.
DH said it in such a way as to make me think that he'd like one of his own.
Any ideas ?

Why not? My husband and everyone in my family has one too for Shabbos. Is your husband's birthday coming up soon? It would make a great birthday present. Otherwise, Chanukah is around the corner.

When we got married, dh got two tallisim and tw bags, one for shabbos and one for chol. The shabbos tallis I think might be a little heavier? And the bag a bit bigger? or smaller b/c no tefillin - I forgot.
But you can get them really cheaply. Dh did. He's not into fancy, totally NOT into the silver on them (though a lot of people are)..
The bags you can get embroidered a bit differently, with the name for very little $.

Ah, so it isn't something unusual, okay.
I looked around and don't really like what I see, though .. and they can be expensive, too !!!!!

Go for it. If it's expensive, make it a combined b-day/anniversary or b-day/anniversary/chanuka/shalosh regalim for the next two years gift. At least you know it's something dh wants.

When I was a kid, someone noticed my father didn't have one, so they knitted (or was it crochet?) him one as a gift! It was so thoughtful, and personal, b/c it was hand-made with his name on it. Maybe if you know someone who does that kind of art, you could commission them to make him one you will like?
Of course, you could also just keep shopping till you find something to suit your taste

Some shuls have shelves or cubbies where people leave their siddurim, tallis and tefillin, etc.

DH would never go for something hippie like a crochet bag. Even if I made it myself.
I ended up getting him one similar to his everyday bag, with his name on it. It was either that or a leather one; I didn't think any of the leather ones were anything special.
We don't have an eiruv but he will still use it for yomtov. As far as every single Shabbos, that's why I put his whole name on it.
He can take it to shul in the bag, before Shabbos, and then bring it home like that. Folded, I assume; it's supposed to be the firt melocho you do right after maaariv, right; segulah for sholom bayis !

hmmm, personally I'd be happier if the first melacha dh did was take out the trash, but to each her own.

They say that someone once asked the Rebbe if it's true that folding your tallis after shabbos is a segulah for shalom bayis. He said that folding your sleeves and washing the dishes definitely is.
(Not sure if this story is true or not but it makes sense!)
Hope your husband enjoys his gift!

I assume you live in a house, Louche, without an eiruv, then.

Have resided half a century on this planet with no eruv and somehow managed to live a normal life. We are apt. dwellers but they put the trash out for collection on Saturdays and the bins don't come back in till Sunday, sometimes Monday.

My husband folds his talis right after havdalah and then he does the dishes. He usually takes out the trash after we eat melava malka. I think its right on target with helping shalom bayis.
