Is it just me or is it Tuesday?! How do you know what you are making for shabbos yet? My week is going so slowly, shabbos is a very distant event in the future right now....

We make a plan every Sunday, based on what all of us have scheduled during the day, and plan out meals for the week. I do lots of large batches and freezing, so it's useful to know what days we can rely on that and just make a salad. Also, if we're organized (hah!) that means just one big grocery shop.

Now that the youngest baby is sleeping and I feel human again, I'm trying to make Shabbat dinners more elaborate again, so I try to spread the cooking out through the week. I'm making the ice creams today, for example, and will make the marinade for the roast tomorrow. Thursday I prepare the pot roast and put it in the crock Friday morning, and make the cake, so erev Shabbat I only need to make the mashed potatoes, put together the salads, defrost the chicken soup and bake the fish!

On a bed of lettuce, I'm going to put some angel hair pasta, and top that with some pickled salmon. Going to drizzle a mayo based dill dressing on top.

Making my first shabbos meal since I came back from Israel over two months ago! (That's what happens when you live by/near your parents and in-laws) So excited to be just me and dh!

Not positive about the menu yet but tentatively:

teriyaki or creamy dill salmon
not sure what kind of salad- probably something with strawberries
zucchini soup
the honey soy sauce chicken recipe from here
sweet and sour meatballs (need to get cranberry sauce)
kugel
green beans
the hershey's chocolate cake with hershey's frosting

and the day meal at the in-laws!
