I assume if someone went into labor during the fast, they probably wouldn't be on here right now! Smile (Unless things are progressing really slowly...) Mine was hard, but B"H I managed.

I always have this fear that my throat will be too dry for me to talk or even breathe. It never happens, but I'm always afraid.

I'm always terrified of severe migraine attacks that star at 1ish, escalate at 3pm... then it doesn't go away. B'h since I discovered the suppositories that have caffeine, I'm a different person. I no longer need to be in bed in a dark dark room without noise. I actually shopped for shabbos, cooked, packed away the foods. I amaze myself each time.

It wasn't easy but till a around 6:30 I was pretty ok. Then around 8ish I was seriously considering breaking it because I just didn't feel like myself but I sat down in a cool room, took a few deep breaths and I was fine.

I now seriously believe that drinking enormous quantities the day (and days) before the best DOES make a big difference.

I wasn't so concerned about running out of milk this fast b/c my DS is one years old & he has no problem drinking other liquids. I am shocked to report a plugged milk duct!!! shock How did that happen? And I kept on nursing him today to try to get him to take a nap!!!

And I'm in so much pain now I can't fall asleep! Sad

B"H it wasn't terrible at all. I was worried about not having enough milk but I had plenty all day, and I didn't feel that awful.

DH was ok also after an awful 17 tammuz experience, I made him rest all day and he was even well enough to go to maariv!

I am 20 weeks pregnant and at about 5 pm started getting a LOT of braxton hicks. Like 5 within 20 minutes. It was kind of scary.

I was worried about my massive headache ... and sure enough it stayed with me all day ...

also worried if anyone would break the fast in front of me and maybe I would have a hard time ... didn't happen on both sides ... but mostly cause I slept a whole lot more than I ever do (wasn't feeling good from the getgo)

Had enough milk, didn't get the usual pounding headache, swallowed meds with H2O, and created an incredible recipe for breaking the fast that my dh raved about Scratching Head (...but, hmmm...was it just because he was hungry or was it really that good?!)

I'm one of those that didn't' make it to the end. I had no one to help me with the baby and got dizzy every time I sat up to feed her or change the pamper. she wasn't happy laying in bed next to me or playing in her crib so I had to sit outside...

I used to be a really horrible faster and get sick and almost always had to break the fast. I stopped fasting for a number of years because I was always ill and had little children I couldn't care for when I was feeling so ill.

But since I started weaning myself off caffeine before the fasts and drinking a bottle of Powerade the day before, I have done much, much better.

Yesterday I did very well, B"H, although I did get a lot of time to rest in the morning, I never got over tired, headachey, cranky, nauseous, etc.

Then again, it could also be getting older and having a slower metabolism, makes it eaiser, too Wink

At the end of the fast last night, I was surprised to find myself feeling happy, to have successfully rejoined the efforts of the Jewish people to fast and attempt to bring about our redemption. (instead of feeling like I hate fasting and just wishing it would be over as I used to feel!)

I am usually a horrible faster. DH made me drink 3 powerades but even with that I did not use the bathroom at all since I got up at 7 am. I went thru a rough spot around 5, baby was nursing way more than he ever does! I am so annoyed, cause I want to stop nursing him and he picked 9 bav out of all days to do his binging.

the poll is because I was also one of those fearful fasters- where I was so afraid I would have contractions, go in to labor lose my milk or miscarry.
I am curious to see how many women are actually affected by fasting and how.

just to mention, I know that for myself I can not fast in the first trimester, I miscarried twice because I did.

I drank A LOT the three days before the fast. But I had cramps and even felt like I had a few contractions, and I'm not even pregnant! (Maybe memories from previous fasts.) I was very weak and light-headed by late afternoon. It hurt to lift my arms.

At bedtime, I told DD I would have to come back later to read her stories. B"H, she waited patiently while I got myself a drink as soon as the fast was over. Then I read her one story, and had to get another drink and some egg salad before I could do another story.

The good news is that I managed not to lose my patience with the kids, which is my biggest fear. I did have a mommy's helper for a few hours late afternoon, which helped, though I only napped about an hour. I gave the baby about 3 ounces of pumped milk, and a little extra baby food throughout the day, but otherwise nursing was okay.
