My son will be 2 in a few weeks and I'm thinking he may be ready for toilet training. But whats the best way to start? once a day at the same time? A few times a day? (the one thing I dont want to do is have him running without a diaper around the apartment! as some ppl suggest. Just cant handle the thought of having to clean up and how far it could spread!)
Also, what do I do when we go on holiday in 2 weeks?

Then wait until you get back from your vacation.

BTW, when you say 'he may be ready', what does that mean?

And generally, toilet training means you ask every 20 minutes or so and put them on the toilet fairly often.
