here goes jewgal:
use sphagettini,or fettachuni noodles.
fry onions, red pepper, and green peppers.( as much as you want)
dressing
1/2 cup soya sauce
1/2 oil
1/2 cup sugar
this dressing is enough for a full box of noodles, so if you use less noodles, cut down on the dressing.

I use the angel hair noodles. The spaghetti and fettucini noodles are a bit too thick.

my pleasure!
Quote: | Chili Noodles
6 cloves garlic, minced
6 T rice vin
6 T sugar
6 T Soy sauce
6 T oil
2 T sesame oil
1-2 tsp chili pow
bring all ingredients to a boil and then simmer for 5 mins. pour over a box of cooked 16 oz spiral macaroni |
here's the version of this from the kosher pallete, it's DELICIOUS. the ingredients are a bit odd, but should be available at a regular supermarket, and substitutes dont really work that well.
SESAME NOODLES
1 (16-ounce) package angel hair pasta
6 cloves garlic, minced
6 tablespoons sugar
6 tablespoons safflower oil
6 tablespoons rice vinegar
6 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons sesame oil
1-2 teaspoons hot Chinese chili sauce or crushed red pepper flakes
6 scallions, sliced
1 teaspoon sesame seeds, toasted
Cook pasta according to package directions; drain and transfer to a large serving bowl.
Combine garlic, sugar, oil, vinegar, soy sauce, sesame oil, and chili sauce in a saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly, until sugar dissolves.
Pour over pasta, tossing to coat. Sprinkle with scallions and sesame seeds. Yield 6-8 servings.

Pasta Salad
1 lb. (16 oz.) elbow macaroni
2 scallions, diced
6 tbsps mayonnaise
1 tsp salt
½ tsp garlic powder (or use fresh garlic)
¼ tsp pepper
2 tbsps lemon juice
1 scant tbsp sugar
Cook macaroni, allow to cool Add remaining ingredients. Mix well and refrigerate. |
thanks very much goldrose, I made this for Shabbos with some adjustments that you (and others) might want to try. I used penne because I like the shape.
here's the rest:
3 scallions
1/2 cup Hellmann's (8 Tbls) mayo
3 and 1/2 tsp. salt
1 and 1/2 tsp. garlic powder
1/2 tsp. pepper
half a lemon (2 and 1/2 Tbls)
scant Tbls sugar
and the Sesame Noodles from the Kosher Palette are really good!

dedicated to goldrose (you asked me for pasta salads!):
pasta salad with Italian dressing #1
12 oz. colored pasta
1 Tbls of salt in the water when you cook it
1/2 cup red pepper cut into very small pieces
20 small stuffed olives cut in half
one 15 oz. can (Season) Stir Fry veg., drained and cut into smaller pieces
2 tsp. salt
1 bottle Italian dressing
cook pasta with salt until tender, drain with cold water
add remaining ingredients and mix well
mix again before serving
(I make it without the red pepper or olives and it's good that way too)
pasta salad with Italian dressing #2
10 oz. pack of tiny bowties
1/2 cup sun-dried tomatoes cut into small pieces
15 oz. can of Stir Fried veg.
10 big stuffed olives cut up
1/2 cup red pepper diced very small
3 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. white pepper
big Spanish onion diced
2 Tbls minced garlic
1/4 italian dressing
cook pasta with 1 Tbls salt until tender and drain
put tomatoes in boiling water for 10-15 minutes or until soft
fry onion until almost done
add garlic and continue frying
add red pepper and fry some more
mix all ingredients together very well
variation: you can add 1 tsp garlic powder instead of minced garlic, 1 Tbls sugar, basil, you can leave out the tomatoes

not sure if this is the kinda thing you want but I'll give it anyway cuz it's great.
1 box linguine, boiled and strained
1/2-1 bag of frozen sugar snap peas, (defrosted is quicker!!)
1 lg. onion, sliced
1 red pepper, sliced
Dressing:
1/2 c. soy sauce
1/4 c. oil
1/2 c. sugar
few drops toasted sesame oil, optional
fry onions until translucent. Add snap peas and peppers. Combine with linguine. Mix dressing ingredients and pour over pasta.
Best when cold IMO. My brother likes it hot. To each, his own!
