Chicken Soup:
Same basic spices (dill, etc.)
Same basic veggies
A few different ways of adding chicken flavoring:
Whole chicken
pupicks
necks
consoumme |
yes but somehow even with all the similarities, some peoples chicken soups taste amazing and others nauseas (ok - bit of exaggeration there- tho not any of ours of course )

the main difference in my soup is that I add beef bones or veal to it. it gives a very rich flavour!

I also do that sometimes DL. My dh enjoys the bones, especially when they have some meat on them too.

Oh, we make a real great soup! Thanks for asking!
I use the purple Lub. Cookbook recipe, but use half the chicken (white meat only, with the skin removed).
Double the water, and a lot more veggies, like we put in a whole bag of onions. A bag of carrots. And all the optional veggies, too.

Any Hungarians out there like me who DON'T put any onion in the soup? (just curious )
My soup is really simple, just:
Carrots
Celery
Parsnip
Chicken WITH SKIN
Salt & pepa
I find that the flavor is a lot richer with the skin, and the chicken doesn't get all dried out. I make it on Thursday night and then refrigerate it, so the next day I can just skim off all the fat.

Stumbled upon this aged post...had to share mine because my "chicken" soup is a little different...
half a package of carrots
1 kolrabi
1 parsnip
7 cloves garlic
1 tomato
1 turnip
1 BIG onion
beef neck bones
bundle of dill and parsley
Turkey thigh or drumstick (lotsa meat and much cheaper!!)
and salt and pepper...
GOOD STUFF!

I have heard that if you put in a tomato, it absorbs the oil.

chicken (usually bones)
celery
a few pieces celery root
onion
carrot
zuchinni
parsnip
sweet potato
the trick is the veggies and long, slow cooking.
I've heard from a few people that using organic chicken for soup is the best, but I'm too cheap

I put in:
Chicken wings
Onions
Tomatoes
Zuchini
Butternut squash
Sweet Potato
Carrots
Kosher salt
Tomatoes give it a really good taste.
I serve all my veggies, people like them! I also use them as baby food.
