I'm not eating in shul this Shabbos. It's Shabbos Mevorchim so I'm making my own cholent, too.

Plain red or white wine
Bought egg challah rolls, Stern's if I can get them

Boiled gef fish
Exotic salad from Shopaholic

Strawberry daiquiries – gotta use up the daq. Mix before Pesach !

Baked chicken thighs; not sure what kind yet
Baked pineapple (hot by night, cold by day) - recipe from Spark ppl

Double choc crumb cake - from another site. The cake part is either a mayonnaise cake or a cake mix; the kuntz is the chocolate crumb topping!

By day: egg salad, cholent with chicken necks, beans, cut up potato, farfel & kishka

cholent - two kinds (beanless and beanfull)
kishke (ff)

grilled chicken strips over lettuce/mandarin oranges/pecans/red onion
pasta salad

I dont really have a recipe. I spray crock pot really well.
Then I put rice on bottom and since we only eat white meat I put chicken cutlets on top. then I put tons of spices like salt garlic paprika sometimes shwarma seasoning and a can of diced tomatoes. then I add water to cover and put on low. It is always really really good and since we dont like cholent here it gives us something warm on shabbos.
U can also use chicken on the bone but be careful cause the chicken falls off the bone and sometimes small bones get hidden in the rice.

I make something very similar but add veggies and play around with grains and other additions. We also only like white meat but I find that cutlets tend to get very dry in the crockpot no matter how much liquid I add and I don't turn the crock pot on until the second before candle lighting. I was actually planning on buying a whole chicken this week b/c I'm sick of how dry it is. How do you prevent it from drying out?

It does tend to get a little dryer than I would like but I will not eat chicken on the bone it grosses me out so I deal with it. It does seem to be better the more liquid I put in.

I got the recipe here on Imamother. I haven't tried it yet, so I can't vouch for it, but others seem to have liked it. http://imamother.com/forum/vie.....48611

uch, I keep making menus and changing them. Nothing sounds interesting today Sad Too many grains and DH took the credit card to work so I only have $10 and whatever is in the house until he comes home late tonight and then there will likely be a parade of 5 people with him.
Here's my money but it is very starchy

Friday Night
Challah
White bean soup
Green beans
Kasha varnishkes
Rice
Honey garlic meat balls
Dessert??

Shabbos Day
Matbucha
Kasha varnishkes
Fried rice vermicelli
Crockpot chicken, veggies and rice
Salad
