Dd6 really wants bangs. Thing is she has curly hair and I'm worried it won't work well. I have curly, frizzy hair and at around her age I asked my mom for bangs and she cut them for me. But then every day she brushed them back with my ponytail and it was a big puff on my head. And took over a year to grow out. So I'm reluctant to try it on dd.

Thing is I always put water on dd's hair and brush it nicely into a ponytail and it's not poofy or frizzy or anything then and just goes nicely into a smooth ponytail. So then will bangs work fine for her? I would just spray her hair and brush the bangs down and the rest into a pony. How do I know if that would work? Anyone with experience with bangs on a kid with curly but smooth and thin hair?

Bangs work for straight hair. Doesn't look good with curly frizzy hair.
You can straighten the bangs with a flat iron every morning.

Only if your willing to use a flat iron on her hair everyday...

Thank you both for responding. I'm definitely not flat ironing her hair. So there's no chance the bangs will stay down just by brushing them when wet? The rest of her hair does stay where I put it when I brush it there when wet, so I was wondering if there's a chance bangs would too. But if not, I'll just tell her no. (Her hair is not frizzy, mine is. So I was wondering if it's different.)

She will just have curls on her forehead. Even with wavy hair they don't lay well.

The bangs will most like fluff & curl & will not look good. Especially as the weather is getting warmer. Bangs in the summer are really uncomfortable. Maybe tell your daughter that you'll discuss it again with her in the winter.

Another resounding NO.

Look into clip on bangs if she insists.

What's a curly kid?

On a serious note, please no. It's not going to look neat.

The picture is gorgeous. I don’t think you can compare a woman’s hairstyle to a hairstyle for a preschool kid.

I’m talking about how it looks day-to-day on a regular kid. Doesn’t always look so gorgeous, I’ve seen kids looking unkempt in such a style. And like you mentioned, the upkeep.

Alot of people are clueless when it comes to curls in general. If you learn how to take care of them the bangs aren't so hard.

I never did bangs much since my BY drilled it in me that getting them would look too wild and inappropriate for a BY girl but I have my regrets....
