You should try YA books! They are much cleaner but also very fast-paced and entertaining. I really loved The Cruel Prince by Holly Black.

Check back here after you’ve read some of the books. I have a lot more recommendations, depending on what you end up liking.

I love this idea! There’s a reason Harry Potter is the best selling book series in history. I still reread it every few years and enjoy listening to podcasts about the books.

The first three books are more to the juvenile side although still amazing but the four books after that are written at an adult level and so mindblowingly amazing.

Op, please report back here as you read books recommended on this thread! It will be fun to discuss them with you.

Yes, for for a child! What adult develops love of reading from reading about the antics of of schoolchildren as in the Ramona or Betsy books.

You should make an account on good reads. I love it. It tracks books Ive read and gives me suggestions. I really enjoy historical fiction and romance too. I am currently reading some amish romance novels by Amy Clipston. I love Kim Vogel Sawyer, Beverly Lewis, Amanda Cabot.

You can follow people on book reads and see what they read and get ideas that way too.

Regarding kids books, I would have no problem rereading Gordon Korman books these days if I ever needed a laugh Smile Some of the kids books recommended I wouldn’t still be interested in reading but some books are just ageless and timeless. I still reread Harry Potter sometimes even though I read it for the first time as an 8 year old. LM Montgomery books I would still read. I agree the Glass Castle was a great book. If you have a lot of time on your hands and are nerdy enough you can read the Lord of the Rings. I read a book once about anesthesia (not by a doctor, by a journalist) and it was fascinating but I don’t remember the title.

I like the author Jodi Picoult- My Sisters Keeper, House Rules, I don’t remember all the titles but I’ve read a bunch of her books. Saving Fish from Drowning by Amy Tan is also very good. Dan Brown books like The Da Vinci code and Angels and Demons are enjoyable. Jane Austen is great.

I’m reading Winter Solstice by Rosamunde Pilcher now — you might enjoy it. Very slow-going, a lot of exposition, but you can really sink into it on a rainy afternoon.

I love Rosamunde Pilcher. So cozy. Her son Robin Pilcher is pretty good, too.
I also like Kate Morton and she's pretty clean. Mostly very clean.
P.D. James and Henning Mankell are amazing crime writers. Also pretty clean.

Dont do that! Read a book and enjoy it but dont go overboard.
Maeve Binchy books are long - one of their advantages.
Let the magic of reading and emersing yourself in another life/experience do its thing. Reading a book when your eye is on another is like dating two boys at the same time.
Even if it gets "boring" push through - its worth it for a talented author.
You may graduate to beyond romance and light reading. In which case I would recommend Baldacci or Harlan Coban.
Eventually you will work your way back to Jewish books.
Dont relegate Jewish authors to the back seat, they still have what to offer. Their quality has increased over the years.

I love Jodi Picoult books but they arent light romance
Have you read The Storyteller yet?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.....ller_(Picoult_novel)

Danielle Steele books are too focused on physical which she wrote she wants to avoid.

I would start in the kids section. So many great books that you for need to worry about. Older kids/teens.

Also every library is different but most have a romance section where it's heavy duty romance so you can skip that.

Read the back of the books. Many libraries have them divided into memoirs, fiction, historical fiction, mystery etc..
