I bought something at butcher last week labeled "NY Strip Steak" and it came out quite nice. Much less fatty than a ribeye but very tender quickly cooked (broiled) to medium rare. But I know NY Strip typically is not a kosher cut, so what did I buy? Anyone happen to know what kosher NY strip actually is? I'd like to buy this cut again, and I don't usually shop at this butcher (it's a big schlepp) so was wondering maybe it's called something else in other shops.

You can call the butcher and ask which cut of meat they use for it
