My 3 yo son is very short and has trouble getting comfortable on the toilet fast enough to get it in. (We tried stools and little ladders attached to a seat, but he just couldn’t do it.) We’re training him now on a potty. How do you then teach him to use the toilet? What do I do in school in the meantime? (School says he should use pull ups during the day but that will mess up whatever training he got.)

From personal experience I wouldn’t train with a potty. Don’t the schools have shorter toilets for little kids? For me it was a whole extra step to train dc to use the toilet. Maybe ask the teacher to put a small step stool-I’ve seen some schools do that.

I find my kids need the smaller seat more than the stool so I send one in for the first few months.

A lot of preschools have shorter child sized toilets. Ask what they look like.
