Making Mlava malka for a crowd. Should I do an onion soup or potato kugel? What is more appreciated after shabbat?

Neither. I would want pareve or milchik finger foods. Who wants to mess the around with stuff like soup? And many people have kugel for Shabbos meal, why would they want more on Motzash?

Soup. A few weeks ago I made roasted butternut squash soup for our shul melave malka and it completely disappeared — it was the most popular item there.

Potato kugel. Quick and easier to serve. Soup spills, you need bowls, you need to ladle out portions. Put out a big platter of kugel and they’ll pass it around.

Kugel doesn’t really go with a dairy menu. For men I would do a pasta or even pizza for the hot option.
