These were delicious - much better than the store bought.

No category for "savory snacks" or noshes so put the recipe here. LOL

Honey Mustard and Onion Pretzels

Excerpt From: Chanie Apfelbaum. - Totally Kosher

Serves 10

What do you do with bottom-of-the-bag leftover bits and pieces of pretzels? Make the best sweet-and-salty finger-licking snack ever! Of course now, since we love these so much, I make them using a fresh bag of whole pretzels.

½ cup extra-light olive oil or grapeseed oil
¼ cup honey
3 tablespoons yellow mustard
2 teaspoons onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
½ teaspoon dried oregano
12 ounces sourdough hard pretzels, broken apart into bite-size pieces

Preheat the oven to 275°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, honey, mustard, onion powder, garlic powder, and oregano. Add the pretzels to the bowl and toss well to coat.

Transfer the pretzels onto the baking sheet and spread them out in an even layer. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes, until the sauce is fully absorbed and the pretzels are crispy.

Cool completely for 1 hour, then store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.

They have to be the very hard thick ones that turn into "chunks"

Those are the kind that are typically used in the commercial ones.

The coating would probably be overwhelming for skinnier pretzels.

Possibly the pretzel rods might work.

But like any recipe, feel free to experiment. Smile
