I always do fresh, but followed a recipe last week with soup mix- which I really don’t like using & didn’t think it added much to the taste. So back to fresh

Fresh. And I don't bother to sauté first. Everything in raw.

In use both.
When I am in a hurry I use the frozen onion cubes.
3 cubes is one onion.
