I have actually tasted this babka and it is absolute heaven!!!!!! Now I'm craving it!!!!!!

(I know someone who makes these for mishloach manos, so I think I'm gonna offer to taste them for her, you know, just to make sure it's Kosher :-)

I don't remember the amount of margarine called for offhand, but when I substituted the oil, I used 1/4 cup more than the amount of margarine it said to use. The taste/texture was perfect, didn't notice a difference because of using oil. I also made a cinnamon/sugar filling for one of the bakbas and that was really, really good, especially on the first day when it was super fresh. The babkas remained fresh for a couple of days too and didn't get super dry like other homemade ones I have tried.

Just be aware that the babkas rise a lot in the oven! The crumb recipe makes way more crumbs than needed and if you try to put them all on the babkas, they will start to fall off the cake in the oven as it bakes up. Instead of the sweet smell of baking cake, I had the awful smell of burning batter, lol.

Best Babka ever!
I love the cookkosher site! They are always updating it and I've gotten a few of my favorite supper recipes there.

You can use a teaspoon of vanilla extract instead of a tablespoon of vanilla
