Does anyone know if it would be safe to make a menorah with a mirror base?
Could the mirror crack from the heat?
I have in the past used a pretty mirror for tealights and never had any problems.
I would like to be 100% sure that the menorah would be safe for use...
Thanks.

I would not put candles directly on the glass, nor would I use ordinary mirror glass. I don't know if there is such a thing as heat-resistant, or tempered, mirror glass, but that is what I would use IF I were going to use glass for a menorah. Of course I would not use glass to make a menorah in the first place. If I wanted the mirror look, I'd use stainless steel polished to a mirror finish.
A mirror most certainly could crack from the heat, esp. on the last days when you have so many candles.
I recently read an alert about glass leichter or menorahs of a certain brand breaking from the heat. Unfortunately I don't recall the brand or where I read it.
