I work in an office with about 40 other frum women and there are constantly gifts for engagements, babies, bar mitzvas of children.
I join in almost every one but there are so many and it really adds up.

If I truly don't have any connection to that person, I give less or not at all.
When I worked in a therapy setting previously, the men would give towards gifts for men, and the women for the women. It's okay if you sometimes decline.

We collect money at the beginning of the year and then it goes to a simcha fund...idk how it works but I gave $25 in September and never was asked since

My office used to ask e/o to contribute for baby, engagement gift etc. Now we grew. The secretary would take care of ordering with office CC.
Still would give personally if we're close. $5 adds up

My office we each contribute 15 shekel a gift. It adds up I got a nice size gift card when I had a baby.
But I also only give to the coworkers that I work with. Anyone from a different department I just opt out of.
