And if you do it - what's your best method?

12 oz of Salad Mate Caesar Dressing is $5.99

32 oz of mayonnaise is $5.99 (the canola one is $6.99)

You get 3x as much for roughly the same price if you make it yourself (with some add ins like Dijon, garlic, etc).

It all depends on how quickly you use up a bottle of dressing. If you're going through a bottle a week, it can be costly.

I always wondered how long does homemade last? We don’t use that much so I’ve been buying salad mate so it lasts a while

Do you have a good recipe that tastes like the salad mate? When I make it myself it never tastes that great.

Homemade lasts weeks. Much cheaper and so easy to make Caesar dressing.
If only I could replicate their pesto dressing..

I find that it lasts 2 weeks. Try it and taste it. Sometimes it lasts longer.

I don't usually buy the salad mate one so I'm not sure. I'd be happy to make a copy cat recipe but I'd need to taste it first.

There was one that a poster had written out on imamother with sugar vinegar mustard garlic salt.

Let me know if it compares. If not, I'd be happy to try copying if someone gives me a taste. ☺️

I make my own and I much prefer the taste. I feel like bought dressing tastes mostly like mayo with some spices. It just doesn't taste like Caesar dressing in my mind.

This is what I make

FOR THE DRESSING
2 tablespoons (25 grams) mayonnaise
1 small garlic clove, minced
1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce or 1 to 2 anchovies, minced (I use soy sauce)
1 teaspoon smooth dijon mustard
1 to 2 tablespoons (15 to 30 ml) lemon juice
1/4 cup (60 ml) olive oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper

do you whisk it with a fork or blend it with a hand blender?

I don't make it often but when I do I vigorously shake it in a 32 ounce container. It comes out very smooth.

It lasts longer when I use vinegar instead of lemon juice.

Mayo
White vinegar or ACV (or lemon juice)
Honey
Mustard (touch)
Garlic powder
Salt
Pepper

Whisk with a fork.

Sometimes I’ll add a few cloves of garlic and some capers. In that case, I would blend with an immersion blender.

I eyeball it so no amounts, sorry.
