Looking for ideas. My young marrieds are coming for RH. YAY!!!
I know what I am cooking for YT (and how much work I am doing)

DD & SIL and DS & DIL are coming Thursday evening (and probably very hungry). I cannot do Chinese because of allergies and they all told me they are going out for pizza with my little ones Friday morning to get everyone out of my house.

Dinner ideas. Nice enough to be B’Kavod my new dear in-laws children, not what I am making for YT, and not going to burden me too much.

Any regular chicken dinner. Try for oven only to minimize more pots.

Maybe add a dessert.

Broiled (instead of grilled) or breaded chicken, cubed/sliced potatoes and broccoli.

Something from betweencarpools 9x13 recipes? You can do a one pan dish as a full meal. Are you looking for meaty, fish or cheese?
They have a lot of chicken on the bone recipes, with rice, couscous, veg etc, if that won't be too similar to anything you're serving for yom tov.

I make this rice all the time, I vary what veg depending on what I have in the house. You can do salmon (or anything else you want) as a main, plus roast some veg.

Meatballs with spaghetti or rice-also can all be made in the oven.

Grilled chicken or meat?

I hope they think so. I have a great MIL and great in-law kids so I hope they feel like I treat them well.

I really appreciate all the suggestions. Thank you. Please keep them coming!!!!

Lasagna, salmon and baked potatoes, I assume they know you have a lot of prep to do and aren’t expecting a gourmet meal

Before yom tov is a hectic time so I like to be keep a few things in my freezer for situations like this.
I try to have a pan of chicken already cleaned and seasoned or breaded in the freezer so I just need to pop it into the oven with rice or potatoes and there’s a fresh hot supper.
I also keep breaded cutlets in the freezer. Deli roll. Etc

Put up meatballs to simmer in the crockpot so you can stay focused on other things.

I give bread and dips when it's busy. I'll probably change that when my kids get older and expect more! Wow you women all sound so geshikt

Half the things people are suggesting are what I serve on yontov and shabbos. Why would I serve cholent and kugel on Thursday night?

I sometimes put up a crockpot first thing erev yomtov with chicken and potatoes. (You can meat and potatoes too). This way it’s done, and I’m not busy with it again.
Fed people=calm house:)
