Cream Cheese Hamantaschen
A la Marcy Goldman with my changes

Makes about 16 but less traditional; recipe doubles well

1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup butter
1/2 cup cream cheese
1/2 tsp vanilla
1/8 tsp salt
1 cup flour

Egg wash
Filling: Nutella or poppy or prune, apricot, or cherry jam
Sugar for topping

Cream fats and sugar and add the flour, salt, and vanilla. Let chill 30 minutes or overnight.

Preheat your oven to 350 and roll out into 3 inch rounds. Brush with wash, fill, and form triangles. Brush again, sprinkle with sugar, and bake until golden brown, about 18 – 22 minutes.



Golden Egg Wash
Glazes about 4 dozen

Adds golden glow and glue
1 egg
1 yolk
1 – 2 T milk or water
pinch sugar

Whisk together and paint on with brush


Egg White Glaze
Glazes about 4 dozen

2 whites
1 tsp sugar

Wisk and paint on with brush

I don't kno about pareve; but I've made it with the dairy and it's very different than a reg. hamantash

this got me thinking...hamantaschen with a cheese filling a la a cheese danish would probably be really really good...gotta figure out how to do that
