DS has a really cte one that my parents bought him last summer. It's a wall with place for the lights on top. Then there is a chosid leaning over about to pour water or chicken feed from his bucket. There are chickens around & other stuff. It's so cute.

My dd had to make a chanukiah from recyclable waste.

We made the base from a hexagonal plastic food box, into which we pushed an upside-down square glass bottle. On top of the bottle we stuck a slat from a plastic flip blind (תריס in Hebrew). The eight candle holders were eight empty halves of squeezed oranges, with the shamash sitting on the hexagonal base (which was decorated with dead batteries). She painted it blue and red with the orange skins clashing nicely with their orange and white colors.

It didn't look "beautiful" but it won third prize in her school's competition!

Every year my kids make a huge menorah from the entire box of clics, 1000 pieces. One year it was on the front page of a newspaper. This year I hope it will be in the mishpacha junior this weekend.

I saw this menorah in boro park on 14 ave. & 42 st. new bakery.
There is a note there that it was done by the P. family, hence the misunderstanding that it's in Porges bakery.
Seeing it in real life is amazing! & worth a trip from anywhere!

We have the beautiful candle ones children made over the years and a silverplate oil one I bought for my husband (we can't come close to affording a silver). So as each son become Bar Mitzvah, I buy him a silverplate as well. One year, my boss bought over a silvery menora as a gift, it was pretty lightweight and cheapie, but I hadn't bought my most recent bar mitzvah one yet so I gave that one to him. My girlfriend who clearly has more sechel than I, pointed out the sterling mark on it. So now my son has a $700 menorah.

One year I created a menorah making party.

where the children made a menorah out of clay

and was later Fired in a kiln.

we picked up the menorahs later on and delivered them.

I asked mothers to stay at the party to help their children.

we had a seperate room for the cake and food.
