It's a Middle Eastern spice mix made with sumac, toasted sesame seeds, salt, thyme, marjorm, oregano...
It's delicious over tehina or humus.
Made into a paste with olive oil and spread over chicken. Or as a dip for bread.
Sprinkled on salads or veggies.
With pita.
In a sandwich with cream cheese.
Over feta cheese. _________________ Really Awesome Mom!

Zaatar goes nicely in tomato soup. (It has oregano hence a good match with pizza or things w/tomato).
For chicken soup, I would use hawadji (more turmeric and cumine), for cholent I usually use cinnamon/paprika/cumin
I sprinkle small amount in potato salad to "liven up" a bit. You can sprinkle in plain green salad or israeli salad.
Also goes nicely sprinkled on fish before grilling/pan-frying. Ditto for omelettes/scrambled egg, sausages. Makes a nice flavouring addition to cheese toast as well.
Classic way is to dent a shallow puddle on hummous, pour small amount of virgin olive oil and sprinkle zaatar. Go easy on the amount.

| It's very good sprinkled generously over pita, or in the pocket, or you can use other bread. Drizzle with olive oil and heat in the toaster oven till warm.
