My son (who starts yeshiva late today) guesses the following:

Yerushalayim - beis hamikdash
Chevron - maarat hamachpela
Teveria - many Tanaim and Amoraim are buried there

Shilo had the mishkan, but that was temporary. Just a guess.

If Teveria because of the Tannaim/Amoraim, then why not Yavne also? (Ancient Yavne, at the very least.)

I heard Créteil, France referred to as the little Netania LOL

Hey, Ruchel, I completely forgot about this thread when I mentioned how some cities were called the Yerushalyim d'whatever country (I was thinking America) in the last century.
